Sedation Dentistry
At Alluvial Dental Center, we love caring for the smiles of our patients, but we understand that not everyone is happy to come see us. We do not take it personally, as many people suffer from dental anxiety or feel uncomfortable in the dental chair. However, we do our best to make our patients feel relaxed and at ease during dental treatments. We have a friendly team headed by Dr. Park that genuinely care for our patients’ comfort and health. When a soothing environment and our compassionate team is not enough to calm your nerves, we also offer sedation dentistry to help you relax.
Dental care is a vital part of your overall health and appearance. Avoiding the dentist due to anxiety can harm your health and destroy your smile. If you feel uncomfortable going to the dentist, you are not alone. Many people have this issue, and at Alluvial Dental Center, we understand. Sedation can be the extra help you need to relax and feel comfortable while our team takes care of your oral health.
Nitrous Oxide
One of the safest and most widely used sedation options in dentistry is nitrous oxide. Commonly referred to as “laughing gas” due to its euphoric effects, it is a mild sedation that can safely be used on both children and adults. Breathing in the gas does not put you asleep or cause prolonged sedation after your treatment. You will be awake and aware during your treatment, but in a relaxed state of mind. Once the treatment is over and you stop breathing in the nitrous oxide, you will quickly feel the effects wear off. Adults can drive home after using nitrous oxide, unlike other sedation options that require you to have someone bring you to and from the dentist.
Oral Conscious
Another option we offer for relaxing our patients is oral conscious sedation. This involves using an oral medication before your dental appointment that will put you into a relaxed state of mind. This is effective for those with moderate to severe anxiety. While you will be awake and conscious, you may not remember periods of time during your treatment. You will need someone to bring you to and from our office.
IV Sedation
For more invasive procedures or those with severe dental anxiety or special needs, IV sedation can be used for extreme relaxation. This is a deeper level of sedation, and you may still be conscious but will most likely not remember your treatment.
There is no reason you should feel anxiety when coming to see us for your dental care. Contact Alluvial Dental Center today for an appointment and ask us about our sedation dentistry options during your next checkup.
