There are many reasons that can cause a person to lose a tooth. Missing a tooth can result in a great deal of confidence loss for most people. If you are experiencing this, please know that there are options that can bring back your full smile!
One of the best remedies to tooth loss are dental implants. Dental implants are great because they are used to replace the original roots of the tooth that were lost in order to support the new tooth. The artificial root is composed of titanium metal. It gets attached to the jawbone so that the new tooth can be inserted into it.
There are several steps that take place when it comes to dental implants procedures. We have outlined them below for your reference.
Consultation
A dental consultation is the very first step for dental implants. During this time, our prosthodontist will go over your dental history, medications, and the process for the dental implants. This is also the time for x-rays and any other required scans to be taken. Your needs are unique and our team will do its best to understand them fully before proceeding with the rest of the steps.

Treatment Plan
Once we have assessed your needs and requirements, we will create a dental plan to fulfill them. You can expect to get recommendations on fixed crown or bridge, removable implants supported dentures, or a mixture of these options. You will need to approve the plan that works best for you. Our dentist will then create a surgical guide for your dental implants.
Dental Implantation
The dental implantation appointment is the biggest appointment in this process. This appointment will require local anesthesia to the specific area of the gums where the procedure will take place. We will create a bone slot and implant your fixture here. The dental implant will then be closed by either a healing screw or a healing cap. Lastly, we will place a suture to seal the tissues around the dental implant tightly. In some instances, we will be able to place a temporary crown during this surgery. This temporary placeholder will be replaced by a final restoration 3-4 months down the line.

Potential Reopening Surgery
In some instances, tissue can grow over the dental implant. This means that a second surgery is required to expose the implant. This is a minor surgery and is not always needed.
Final Crown Impression
Once you are ready for your final restoration, we will take an impression of your mouth. We will then create the perfect piece for your specific smile.

Final Restoration
The big moment is here. During this appointment, our team will deliver your final restoration. Your smile will be full again.
Undergoing a dental implant procedure can be lengthy. However, the end results are permanent and absolutely worth it.
